The Fifth Annual Midwest Women in Mathematics Symposium (WIMS) will highlight scholarly contributions of female mathematicians in the Midwest and stimulate collaborations, networking, and mentoring relations among the participants.

WIMS 2017 will build upon the success of previous symposia (2016, 2015, 2014, 2013) and include the following events:

Agenda

  • Two Plenary Talks and ten Invited Talks
  • A satellite colloquium on Friday, February 24, 2017 in the IUPUI Department of Mathematical Sciences
  • A poster session highlighting the work of female graduate students, postdocs, and early career mathematicians
  • An open problem session during which participants will work in small groups on field-specific problems
  • A round-table lunch discussion to discuss careers for females in mathematics in academia, industry, and government

Registration and Funding

  • Partial funding is available to support the travel and lodging of participants.
  • Graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and researchers at small institutions are especially encouraged to apply.
  • Please request support under the Financial Support section of the registration form.
  • To be sure you will be considered for funding, please register before December 31, 2016
